Engineer Recognition Program

The U.S. Public Health Service engineers and architects characterize the fulfillment of the PHS mission to promote, protect and advance the public health of the nation throughout their career. These commissioned officers and civil servants apply their technical skills and professional expertise daily in a wide variety of projects across the country. The Engineer Professional Advisor Committee (EPAC) wishes to recognize retiring officers and civil servants who have dedicated and committed their careers to public health.

The EPAC Engineer Recognition Program is designed to document and acknowledge some of the many notable career accomplishments of our retiring USPHS Engineers. EPAC members are seeking out and interviewing recently retired engineers and architects. The goal is to briefly summarize their USPHS career history and provide their advice to junior engineers. Please join us in saluting these commissioned officers and civil servants as we strive to build upon their legacy and meet the public health challenges of the 21st century.

It is unfortunate, but we generally do not know when our members retire! As a result, the list of engineers that we have interviewed so far is small and represents only the ‘tip of the iceberg’ within our profession. We hope to continually add to this list. If you are a retiring engineer, please consider volunteering to share your experiences by clicking on the Volunteer Form below. If you know of a retiring engineer, please consider nominating them for the program by clicking on the Nomination Form below.

The EPAC is honored to present the career highlights of the following recently retired officers and civil servants:

Please here if you are a retiring USPHS engineer or architect and would like to volunteer to meet with an EPAC member to share your career highlights and advise to junior commissioned officers and civil servants.
